I was told by a few people how great Caffe Furbo was and so when I recently moved to the area, this has become my coffee shop of choice.
Furbo is an artsy place with very good expresso-based drinks - and some great pastries or sandwiches to go along with your latte or whatever you drink.
Kevin, the owner is such a friendly guy and when he learned I had just moved back from Spain, he asked me how I like my latte. Unlike most Canadians, I don't like a bucket of coffee so I said I prefer something smaller. "You got it," he said. Since then he has been tailoring my macchiato just the way I like it and when I arrive, he automatically makes it.
That's the value a "local" caffe where the owner is there every day.
Cafe Furbo is easily the best coffee in the Distillery. Kevin (the owner), is super friendly and the food is awesome. They are also licensed to serve alcohol, so if a quiet meditative space to work and sip a latte is your thing, or have glass of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, look no further.
This place gets a solid 5 stars in my estimation. As a resident of the Distillery district for several years, I've had the pleasure, and sometimes misfortune, of exploring the varied retailers in this neighborhood. Furbo is a standout in the district in terms of atmosphere, service and quality of product.
From coffee to wine, the drink selections are uniquely refined without breaking the wallet and the space expresses a warm, casual vibe keenly suited for reading, working, people watching or checking out the whimsical art mounted inside.
I am new to the Distillery and was very surpised to see this tiny cafe. It seems to be run by just one (really nice) guy. To make this short, he makes great espresso drinks and offers Bailey's shots, how could I resist...the capuccino bailey's was delicious! There is some art on the walls, very abstract, not my cuppa. Very friendly host and atmosphere, higly recommended and will be back to try the paninis.
